9MM SOLUTION: 'We Are Not MORTA SKULD'

The Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based 9MM SOLUTION, which features ex-MORTA SKULD members Dave Gregor, Jason Hellman, Ed Wallner, along with singer Hobbes Caltous, have issued a statement in response to fan inquiries about the similarities — or lack thereof — between their new band's sound and that of their previous group.

Said Caltous, "I've gotten a couple emails about this, not to mention a lot of people ask us about this regularly, so I thought we'd address this directly: 9MM SOLUTION is not MORTA SKULD. Dave and Jay have been asked many times, but MORTA SKULD won't be getting back together.

"9MM SOLUTION is entirely different. We made this up from square one, totally redid the band from its previous incarnations. Those people who enjoy metal shows WILL enjoy this. If you've ever been to shows where the band makes you want to get up and rock out, you'll have fun with this stuff. The music speaks for itself. [This doesn't mean] that we've gone soft. The music still carries a very hard edge, but it's not death metal. We've taken to throwing the damned labels out the window, but I like the term dark metal. I get a lot of inspiration from singers like Dez from DEVILDRIVER, or Martin Cock from AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE.

"I don't know about the other boys' thoughts on this, but every time i get asked who we sound like, I almost always tell people to listen to the CD and make their own judgments. If people don't like the band because it's not MORTA SKULD, then fine."
